Updating TrueCommander

Updates arrive through WordPress itself, the same one-click flow as any plugin. Here is how it works and what it needs.

3 min read Updates

TrueCommander plugs into the normal WordPress update system, so there is no separate updater to learn and nothing to hunt down. When a new version ships, your site finds out the same way it does for every other plugin.

How updates reach you

New versions show up right where you would expect: on Dashboard → Updates and on the Plugins screen, with an Update now button and a View details link for the changelog. Click it and WordPress installs the new version in place, keeping all your settings.

Prefer to do it by hand? You can always re-download the latest .zip from your account dashboard and upload it over the existing install. Either route lands you on the same version.

What updating needs

Updates are tied to your license. The plugin checks for new versions against your license key, and the download itself is delivered over a secure, short-lived link, so only licensed sites get the files. As long as your license is active and your site can reach the internet, updates appear on their own.

If your site temporarily cannot reach the license server, nothing breaks. You simply will not see a new version until the connection is back.

Automatic updates

Because TrueCommander uses the standard WordPress update flow, you can turn on automatic updates for it from the Plugins screen, the same Enable auto-updates toggle WordPress offers for any plugin. With it on, WordPress applies new versions for you as they are released.

After your first year

Your license includes one year of updates. When it lapses, TrueCommander keeps running on the version you already have, but new updates (along with support and AI commands) pause until you renew. Renewing turns them straight back on. See Licensing and site activations for the full picture.

Before a big update

For a major version, the usual good habits apply: take a backup first (the create backup command makes a full one in a couple of clicks), and if you keep a staging copy, update there before production. Routine updates are safe to apply directly.
